Transition to kindergarten is an important event for our students and their families.
Cullman City Head Start recognizes that building and implementing a seamless kindergarten transition can make a significant difference for a child’s early education experience, so that is why the transition process at Cullman City Head Start begins early in the spring. Parents are invited to attend a parent orientation regarding expectations and experiences presented by the Kindergarten teachers and Principal of Cullman City Primary School.
The parents of Cullman City Head Start also have their own day to register their child for Kindergarten where the Head Start staff are present to answer questions and help them through the process. Our Pre-K students make a Kindergarten visit, where they tour the different classrooms and have a meet and greet with several of the Kindergarten teachers. Cullman City Head Start is housed within Cullman City Primary School; therefore, the PreK students are already familiar with the school building, as they share the same lunchroom and playground. Parent and children are also familiar with morning drop off and afternoon pick up procedures.
